    The New York Gang Investigators Association is pleased to announce its 2014 8th Annual Gang Training Conference. This training conference will provide the most current and reliable street gang information available to our membership. The NYGIA has gathered an array of speakers from throughout the United States that will focus on the recognition and identification of Latino Gangs, Hospital Based Youth Violence Intervention, Prison Gangs, Asian Gangs, Chicago Gangs and Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs. We also have special guest speakers that will focus on Intervention and Prevention strategies for at-risk youth.
    Dr. Gestring will work in concert with Medical Professionals at NYU Hosptial for this presentation.
    CONFERENCE TOPICS: (subject to change)

    Mark L. Gestring, M.D., F.A.C.S., Director of Adult Trauma at the Strong Regional Trauma Center, and Assistant Professor of Surgery and Emergency Medicine at the University of Rochester Medical Center. 
    Dr. Mark Gestring serves as the Medical Director of the Kessler Trauma Center in Rochester New York where he holds the rank of Associate Professor of Surgery, Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Rochester School of Medicine. Dr. Gestring was instrumental in the development of an aggressive, hospital-based, violence intervention program aimed at youths under the age of 18 who have been victimized by violent crime. This program successfully incorporates a wide range of hospital, law-enforcement and community resources in an effort to identify and address individualized risk factors and behaviors known to escalate the cycle of violence. Although developed in Rochester, NY, this program is designed to be universal in any hospital and trauma center setting.
